Clean up

Silas loves to go above and beyond.
Here he is cleaning the pool clothes in the creek.
He's a great kid and I love him for it.

Emerson's just watching and being cute.

Dam Report

During one of the warm and beautiful days last week the kids repaired the
dam they built last summer along with making it a little higher.
They love getting wet and dirty.

Wintery Mix

Woke up yesterday morning to a cold wintery mix that lasted well past midnight.
This left everything covered with a layer of ice. Needless to say
going outside was severely limited.

Today we woke up to 10 degrees and a layer of clean white snow.
I guess there’ll be lots of sledding and hot cocoa today.
On the bright side, it was 84 insde.
Got to love a woodburner.

The next project on the list: The Cabin/Office

Much to my chagrin, the cabin/office combo turned into a storage bin for the last year or so and now I finally have the time and effort to transform this little cabin into its intended use; a cabin/office combo.

I’ve been working diligently to consolidate the things that need to be kept and to dispose of what doesn’t.

Hopefully, I’ll have it emptied by the end of next week and I can start with the build out.

It’s amazing the things that human save.

Finally got the under-pinning up

The underpinning is an apron that goes around the bottom of the perimeter of the structure to keep the underside of the house warm. It also looks much nicer and prevents guests from being able to count the dogs sleeping under the house.

After all we don’t want to appear like we’re rednecks, do we?.

The two sections that were left open will have access panels so we could use the bottom of the house like a mini-basement.

The kids did great helping me and making the job go a lot easier.

Thanks kids!

Firewood and what's left of the chickens

Made a temporary shelter for the firewood, hopefully in the coming months
I’ll do something more permanent.

We lost a lot of chickens over the winter due to illness, them dogs of ours,
and quick animals but I guess that’s life on the farm.
