I’ll save you …

It’s nice to know that at certain times of the day, week, or month I feel in my heart that my family thinks of me in this way.

Thought for the day

I have no time because I have to get to work early but I leave you with this very juvenile joke that made me chuckle out loud. Have a hectic day!

The “Start in one corner” principle

Judith and I are on a quest to clean out our house and become more minimalistic.  Actually, we just want to be able to walk across a room in a straight line.  We are quickly realizing that it not as easy as it appears.  Using the advice from some friends we adopted the “Start in one corner” principle.  This is proving to be difficult because as you start in one corner you have to pass several other corners to get to the corner you started in.  Which lead to several projects going at the same time, intensifying the mess.

Then you have the “Personality Clash” problem.  That’s when one party wants to start over by emptying the entire house by using a match and some kind of accelerant (only kidding) and the other wants to go through everything before parting with it.  At the same time, we need to take care of our daily routine and deal with all the children wanting to hold on to everything they own because it’s so special.

It’s strange how your heart gets attached to the useless junk in your life that we all call possessions.  I know we will get through this, it’s just going to take time, which is something neither one of us have a lot of.

Good times by Eddie Brickell and the New Bohemians

Tomorrow will mark eight years that Judith and I have been married and the above song has always been one of our favorites. It’s odd how we came to hear it; it was part of the Windows 98 package on our computer. The advancements of technology, bringing love songs to a new generation of computer geeks.

Food for thought

Do you realize if it weren’t for Edison we’d be watching TV by candlelight?

If you just learn a single trick

If you just learn a single trick, Scout, you’ll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.

A bit on the nippy side

Follow the Yellow Leaf Road - by Schwede123
As our northern family and friends have spent the last several weeks transitioning into autumn we woke up to our own little transition, 54 degrees worth of transition.  Now that may seem laughable to some but when you live in a block house with a concrete slab or a crawl space without insulated windows 54 degrees may seem a bit on the nippy side.

So, I woke up and cranked on the heat for an hour or so just to get the chill out of the house and Echo and I sat and had some oat meal together.  It’s funny how some northern transplants will take advantage of any cool weather they can get and reminisce about cold weather gone by.

Now we all look forward to a day that reminds us why we live in South Florida; low 70’s, sunny clear skies with a light breeze.  Prefect park weather.

Joseph-Scissorhands

I have come to the conclusion that my blog has hit a fork in the road.  On one hand I wanted it to be an outlet for me to express my struggles and thoughts through my writing and on the other I wanted it to be an avenue for family and friends to follow our family adventures.

I realized that this cannot work; the subject matter at hand takes the blog in two very different directions and I think it’s best for the blog to concentrate on our family and the amusing side of life and keep the inner workings of my mind separate.

I extend my apologies and hope you’ll still tune in from time to time and check up on us.

Echo's new hobby

Doing 360’s in the living room, it’s pretty cool if you could get past the smell.

Won’t Get Fooled Again

I was real excited to vote today until I entered the polling place.  When I walked in I realized they were playing “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by the WHO.  Not the whole song mind you just the ending.

There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

It just kept looping around, over and over again.  It was quite un-nerving and it made it hard to concentrate on voting and the volume, the windows were shaking.

Well ... only time will tell.

Today is Election Day

Don't forget to vote!

Some candidates are still on the campaign trail beguiling young voters.

That can’t be good for the sewer system, can it?

Don’t worry Barry’s on top of the foreclosure mess, rest easy!

By the way, Happy November

My mental reality

Music Monday

Paul Simon took the title of his song “Mother and Child Reunion” (1972) from the name of a chicken-and –egg dish he spotted on a Chinese restaurant’s menu at the Say Eng Look Restaurant in New York City’s Chinatown district with eating with some friends.  He said to himself, “Oh, I love that title. I gotta use that one.”

Green acres is the place to be …

Judith and I awoke last night around one a.m. with several police officers searching the perimeter of our home and the dog barking like mad.

There was a Fort Lauderdale police car along with three Hollywood police cars in front of the house.  The offices seemed tense and so did we.   Judith and I watched intently as this went on for 15 or so minutes.

Suddenly they got back in their cars and moved the search to the corner.  This is a bad thing; the crime seems to be getting closer to our home.

Let’s all pray that the next incident is further away and not inside our home.

Hey, I draw the line!

Judith was nursing Emerson; she looks down and notices a mosquito slightly above Emerson’s mouth doing what mosquito do, sucking blood.

She quickly shoes it away and exclaims, Hey, I draw the line, one parasite at a time!

Silas on his fifth birthday

Silas said on his fifth birthday: The older I get the happier I get.

Judith: By the time you’re an old man you’ll be full of joy.
