The next project on the list: The Cabin/Office
Much to my chagrin, the cabin/office
combo turned into a storage bin for the last year or so and now I finally have
the time and effort to transform this little cabin into its intended use; a
cabin/office combo.
I’ve been working diligently to consolidate
the things that need to be kept and to dispose of what doesn’t.
Hopefully, I’ll have it emptied by
the end of next week and I can start with the build out.
It’s amazing the things that human
save.
Finally got the under-pinning up
The underpinning is an apron that goes around the bottom of the perimeter
of the structure to keep the underside of the house warm. It also looks much
nicer and prevents guests from being able to count the dogs sleeping under the
house.
After all we don’t want to appear like we’re rednecks, do we?.
The two sections that were left open will have access panels so we
could use the bottom of the house like a mini-basement.
The kids did great helping me and making the job go a lot easier.
Thanks kids!
Firewood and what's left of the chickens
Made a temporary shelter for the firewood, hopefully
in the coming months
I’ll do something more permanent.
We lost a lot of chickens over the winter due to illness, them
dogs of ours,
and quick animals but I guess that’s life on the farm.
An Early December Snow
We got hit with some snow the first week of December
The following week it hit 70, go figure?
Must be that wacky weather caused by global warming
Extending the carport before the winter came
A lot of wasted space ... need more room
Framing with the help of a dog and a chicken
Taking a break
Measure twice and cut once
You know, ultimately I would love to direct
Dog kennel with built in dog house
Inside all nice and organized
The finished product before the cistern was hooked up
